In these days of walk-and-talk and walk-and-work, battery chargers are as much a necessity to business as a microwave oven is to the kitchen. Cell phones, laptops, notebooks, and camcorders, just to mention a few.
But how do they work? Here are some types of battery chargers explained:
? Solar battery chargers: These little gems use the sun?s energy to recharge batteries. From car, boat and motorbikes to cell phones, DVD players and computers, there is a solar battery charger to suit.
? Automotive battery chargers: Most automotive battery chargers simply attach to the vehicle?s battery terminals and plug in to mains power. However, there are now new products on the market that work to prevent the battery from going flat in the first place.
To comprehend how the process works it is important to understand what causes a battery to deteriorate.
Car batteries rely on a chemical process to provide power. The car battery contains lead plates in a solution of sulphuric acid, which act together to make and store electricity. Over time a residue of lead sulphate builds up on the plates, reducing the flow of electricity. ?De-sulphating? technology reverses this process by using sound waves to dissolve the residue build-up.
Of course this won?t help if you?ve left your lights on at the train station ?
? Industrial Battery Chargers: These are the big guys. With names such as ferroresonant, Opportunity Charging and Silicon Controlled Rectifier charger, these are heavy-duty long haul pieces of technology. Whether cold storage units, factory or fleet applications, there is an industrial battery charger to suit. Basically though, it is important that the industrial battery charger contains a voltage regulator of some description. This will ensure that the battery is not damaged while it is being recharged.
? Cell Phone Battery Chargers: It is very important to choose a cell phone battery charger that is designed for the model and type of battery being charged. Likewise, it is prudent to make sure that the battery is, itself, the correct one for the phone.
Choosing the correct battery charger will ensure that the connection points will be compatible and the correct amount of electricity is delivered. If too little electricity is delivered, the battery will not fully charge; if too much, it may overheat. Many cell phone battery chargers today do have a built in system to prevent overcharging, however, it is still important to ensure the charger and battery are compatible.
And to make sure that business, or life in general, isn?t inconvenienced too much due to battery recharging, many cell phone battery chargers now allow the user to make phone calls during the recharging process.
So, the next time you?re out and about walking the talk, spare a thought for the hard-working companion who makes sure your equipment is up to the job. And, the most important thing of all ? never mistake that cup of coffee on your desk for your cell phone battery charger carriage.

Home Equity Loan ? Home Theater Adds Fun and Value
Home Equity Loan ? Home Theater Adds Fun and Value
by: Charlie Essmeier
In days gone by, the family typically spent their evenings watching television in the den or living room, crowded around a black and white television set that may have measured no more than nineteen inches in diagonal size. For decades, this scenario was pretty much the same in most American homes, with the only change being the replacement of black and white televisions with color models. This worked fine for many years, when most cities only had two or three stations, and most homes didn?t have cable television. With the introduction of high definition television (HDTV), DVD movies, high performance surround sound systems, and affordable video projectors and flat-screen plasma displays, many homeowners would like to have a dedicated room, or home theater, for audio-video use. In today?s housing climate, adding a home theater to your home is a smart move.
Few homes have a...

Tips for Getting the Most Life Out of Your Laptop Battery
by: Eve Larson
As more and more people are becoming part of the mobile workforce and using laptop or tablet PC?s battery life is often a primary concern. Today?s portable computers use lithium-ion batteries instead of older style nickel-cadmium power sources. In addition to being able to hold a greater charge, lithium is also very light weight, another important concern for portable computers.
When you are purchasing your computer investigate if a long-life battery is available. While it will add to the cost it can give up to double the usage of a normal battery. To get the most usage out of your battery you?ll need to understand a little bit about how batteries work. Each battery has a limited number of charge cycles. If your battery lasts for 4 hours and on the first day you use it for 2 hours and then recharge it fully and the next day you use it for 2 hours again and then fully recharge...

Who is the TV Guardian in Your House?
Who is the TV Guardian in Your House?
by: Chris Robertson
If you're a parent, chances are you're concerned about the content your kids are being exposed to on television. According to a March 2005 poll by Time Magazine, 66 percent of respondents said there is too much violence on TV, 58 percent said there is too much cursing, and 50 percent said there is too much sexual content. Although that's the perception of adults, it's based in fact.
According to the Parents Television Council, profanity is used once every six minutes on network TV shows, once every two minutes on premium cable shows, and once every three minutes in major motion pictures. Alarmingly, according to January 2005 Nielsen statistics, Desperate Housewives is the most popular network television show among children aged 9 to 12. Unless you're willing to be the TV guardian in your house, how can you be the TV filter that ensures your home remains curse free?
Fortunately, new...

Blu-Ray Set To Take The World By Storm!
by: Paul Colbert
The Blu-ray Disc belongs to a new generation of optical discs capable of staging high density data. Blu-Ray technology is based on a blue-violet coloured laser. The blue laser operates at a wave length of 405 nm, while older technology such as DVDs and CDs are based on red and infrared lasers that works at 650 and 780 nm. Since the wave length is shorter with a blue laser, the new Blu-ray technology makes is possible to store much more information
The advantage with the Blu-ray technology is that the laser beam can be focused much more tightly at the surface of the disc. Tight focus means that a smaller spot will be produced on the surface on the disc, and when the spots become smaller there will naturally be room for more information on each disc. The minimum spot size of any laser depends on a naturally accruing phenomenon called diffraction. The narrow beam of light sent out from a...

Improve Your B2B Direct Mail Response Rates With Premiums.
by: Alan Sharpe
Premiums are an effective way to increase your direct mail response rates. Whether you are selling a product or service directly through the mail, or whether you are using a sales letter to generate leads, premiums can help you boost response, increase conversions and motivate buyers to pay now rather than later.
A premium is simply an item that you offer to your buyer to take action. As Dick Benson has said, ?a premium is a bribe to say yes now.?
Premiums are effective because, dollar for dollar, they are better incentives than cash discounts. Given the choice between receiving a free Apple iPod or a $200 discount on their order, most buyers will opt for the iPod.
Here are some tips on using premiums effectively.
Aim for desirability over relevance
The key to choosing the right premium for your audience is desirability. If the premium is related...
